Week 48




THAILAND!



When we visited before we saw beautiful temples of gold. Now we want to visit this temple of white- Wat Rong Khun.




We'd take an elephant trek through the ruins of Kamphaeng Phet (from the 1300's).




We'd dance in the falling waters of Khlong Lan.




We'd go for a long-tail boat tour of the limestone needle islands.

Week 47


INDIA! The place where ALL of your senses come alive!


Our sense of hearing will love the music of 415 spoken languages and dialects, but will also embrace silence at the romantic Taj Mahal.




Even though we will miss Holi (the festival of colors), our sense of sight will find lots of color in sarees, the Sri Meenakshi Temple, the Ganges River...




Our sense of touch will be delighted with intricate henna tattoos on our hands, or feet, or faces.




Both our senses of smell and taste will savor curry, saffron, cumin, garam masala- yum!

Week 46


CHINA again! (The south this time.)


We'd help out in the beautiful rice terraces, like this one in Guangxi.



We'd take a visit to Tibet and tour some of their monasteries.



We'd cruise the river in Yangshuo and see the breathtaking mountain peaks.



Of course, we'd have to visit some snuggly pandas too!

Week 45


JAPAN!


We'd visit the beautiful Himeji (Heron) Castle.



We'd see how far we could hike up Mt. Fuji (too bad we'd miss the cherry blossoms).



We'd travel to Kyoto and check out as many temples as we could, such as the Kinkaku-ji.



We'd marvel at the fashions of the traditional Geishas in Kimonos...



... and the modern Harajuku girls in Anime Cosplay.

Week 44


SOUTH KOREA!


We'd begin in Seoul at the Gyeonbok Imperial Palace and watch the guards on parade.



We'd stroll through the lovely Hyangwonjong Pavilion Lake.




We'd visit the living museum that is the village of Kyongju (and see this the Pulguksa Temple).



My husband wants to visit the Demilitarized Zone, but I'd rather try my bravery on the Steel Stairways of Wolchulsan.

Week 43


CHINA! (Just the northern part this week.)


We'd take a long stroll down as much of the Great Wall as our legs could handle.



We'd admire the gorgeous architecture of the Forbidden City. We'd also head out to tour the Summer Palace.



We'd visit the Terra Cotta Warriors of Xi'an.



We'd be mesmerized by the amazing Chinese acrobats.

Week 42


RUSSIA!


We'd visit the most gorgeous gingerbread house ever- St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow.



We'd watch the mesmerizing Russian Ballet dance Swan Lake.



We'd visit St. Petersburg and check out the State Hermitage Museum.



We'd shop for the delicate Matryoshkas (Russian Nesting Dolls).
